Precision TIR Optics
The SS3 uses custom-engineered Total Internal Reflection (TIR) optics instead of a traditional reflector or simple lens.
The TIR optic collects and directs light from the LED into a precise, functional beam pattern, helping reduce wasted light and glare while maximizing usable illumination. The custom-molded optic also serves as the main lens for greater optical efficiency.
Choose Your Beam Pattern
Configure your SS3 LED Pod for your specific lighting application with multiple available beam patterns.
SAE Driving: Produces a focused 18x8-degree beam designed for strong forward illumination and supplemental high-beam use.
SAE Fog: Uses Diode Dynamics’ FineLine optic to create an extremely wide 80-degree field of view for illuminating the area directly ahead of the vehicle.
Flood: Delivers an even 60x60-degree spread ideal for backup lighting, trailers, worksites, and other low-speed applications.
Combo/Driving: Produces a smooth 80x30-degree spread that balances forward illumination with a wide field of view for versatile use across different speeds and terrain.
Spot: Creates a highly focused 6-degree beam for long-distance illumination. The SS3 Sport Spot produces up to 151,000 candela and can project usable illumination approximately half a mile at ¼ lux.
Sport, Pro or Max
Choose from three SS3 performance levels:
Sport: A value-focused option featuring high-intensity LED emitters and TIR optics.
Pro: Steps up performance with approximately double the total power of the Sport model.
Max: Uses advanced automotive LED emitters for high power and extreme intensity, making it the performance-focused option in the SS3 lineup.
Cool White or Selective Yellow
Choose the main output color that best suits your setup:
- 6000K Cool White – crisp white illumination that complements many factory LED lighting systems.
- 3000K Selective Yellow – high-contrast yellow illumination with a distinctive appearance.
Interchangeable replacement lenses also allow the color or beam pattern to be changed later.
Amber or Red Backlight
The SS3 features an integrated accent backlight available in amber or red. Instead of illuminating a small indicator LED, the backlight illuminates the TIR optic itself for a distinctive appearance when the main beam isn’t in use.
The backlight can be wired into your desired vehicle function using the appropriate wiring setup.
SAE Driving & Fog Applications
When installed as a pair and properly aimed according to applicable regulations, the white Driving pattern meets SAE J581 requirements for a Driving/Auxiliary High Beam Light, while the Fog pattern meets SAE J583 requirements for a fog lamp.
