Add powerful rear-facing illumination without drilling or complicated wiring with the Diode Dynamics HitchMount LED Pod 7-Pin Reverse Kit. Designed to mount an SSC1 Sport or C1R LED pod directly in an open-back 2-inch or 2.5-inch trailer hitch receiver, this kit provides an easy way to upgrade nighttime visibility when backing up.

The included harness connects to a compatible factory 7-pin trailer connector, allowing the LED pod to operate automatically with your vehicle’s reverse and running lights. Choose the C1R option to add a high-power red fourth brake light function as well.

Brighter Backup Lighting

Factory reverse lights can provide limited usable illumination behind a vehicle. The HitchMount kit adds a dedicated high-power LED pod directly at the rear of your truck, SUV, or other compatible vehicle for significantly improved visibility when reversing at night.

The LED pod automatically activates when the vehicle is shifted into reverse, making the upgrade convenient for everyday use.

SSC1 or C1R LED Pod Options

The kit is available with an SSC1 Sport or C1R HitchMount LED Pod.

The SSC1 provides powerful white reverse illumination along with a red backlight that can function as an additional running light.

The C1R expands functionality with three outputs: a high-power white reverse light, low-power red running light, and high-power red brake light.

C1R Fourth Brake Light & SafetyStrobe

Choose the C1R option to add a high-power red fourth brake light to the rear of your vehicle. The brake function automatically activates when the brakes are applied.

The C1R also supports SafetyStrobe, which can flash the brake light three times when the brakes are initially applied. This feature can be disabled if desired.

Note: The C1R + Brake configuration is not compatible with Ram trucks.

Plug-and-Play 7-Pin Connection

For compatible vehicles, installation requires no custom wire routing. The included harness connects directly to the vehicle’s factory 7-pin trailer wiring.

Once installed, the system can operate automatically as:

• A red running light with the vehicle’s tail lights
• A high-power white light when reverse is selected
• A high-power fourth brake light with the C1R option

Manual reverse-light override requires a separately available universal backup harness.

Vehicles without a 7-pin trailer connector may require modification, while certain vehicles require a vehicle-specific harness.

Five-Minute Hitch Installation

The patent-pending snap-fit mount eliminates the need for drilling or a standard hitch pin during normal installation.

Insert the HitchMount into the receiver and the snap-fit side mounts lock it into position. When you need the receiver for towing, unplug the harness, press the retaining pins, and remove the HitchMount.

A DT connector cover is included to help protect the harness from dirt and moisture while the light is removed.

Fits 2-Inch and 2.5-Inch Receivers

The HitchMount fits 2-inch trailer hitch receivers and includes a snap-in 2.5-inch receiver adapter for additional compatibility.

Your trailer hitch must have an open back for installation. Due to differences between hitch and trailer packages, the mount may not sit completely flush on every vehicle.

TIR Optics & Flood Beam

Diode Dynamics Stage Series LED pods use custom-engineered TIR (Total Internal Reflection) optics to efficiently collect and direct LED output.

The SSC1 and C1R HitchMount configurations use a 50x50-degree Flood pattern, providing broad, even illumination behind the vehicle that’s well suited for reversing and close-range visibility.

Proven Stage Series Reliability

Stage Series lighting is tested for long-term operation from -40°F to 185°F, along with vibration, moisture intrusion, and corrosion testing.

Important Fitment Notes

Some vehicles require a vehicle-specific harness, including select Ford F-150, Toyota Tacoma, GMC Sierra 1500, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Ford Maverick, and Chevrolet Colorado applications.

Jeep: No trailer-detection warning messages are indicated for this kit.

Ram: C1R + Brake option is not compatible with Ram trucks.

The product is not intended to replace the vehicle’s original factory tail lamps. Confirm that your trailer hitch has an open back before ordering.
